Unfortunately, it was soon discovered that he was completely blind in his left eye which made him unreleaseable. This meant that he would need a permanent home where he would be cared for in order to survive. It was on January 13, 2009 that Apollo became a part of the Trees For Tomorrow education staff.

great horned owl birds of prey staff orion

Orion

The owl had injuries from what appeared to be a vehicle collision. It was taken to the Northwoods Wildlife Center in Minocqua, Wisconsin for treatment where it was discovered that the right wing was so severely damaged that it would prevent Orion from ever flying efficiently. Therefore, on April 1, 2009 Orion became the second feathered member of our education staff.
