Science Earth Exploration for Kids (S.E.E.K.)
Day camp for youth

2016 Science Earth Exploration for Kids will bring a summer full of fun quests to discover the wonders of nature! Youth ages 8-12 are invited to join us each week for a full day of exploring and using science to learn more about the Northwoods of Wisconsin! Each week will focus on a different nature topic and will include outdoor explorations, hands-on science, activities, and fun!
 
Dates: Every Thursday from the end of July through the first week of July.
Time: 8:30am-4:00pm
Check-in begins at 8:15am in the Education Hall – Check-out required at the end of the day
Cost: $35 per child per session and includes a full-day of programming.

Participants should bring a lunch, comfortable clothes, and shoes for beign outside.  A morning snack is provided.

Bring an unexpired dry or canned food item for the Vilas County Food Pantry to any Trees For Tomorrow summer program and receive a coupon for a free small cone from Dairy Queen in Eagle River. Offer good while coupons last.



PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED at least 48 hours in advance.

June 23: “Worms, Slugs, Spiders, and Bugs”

Get up close with some creepy crawlies as we dig in the dirt, flip logs, and hunt for all things teeny tiny living in the forest.

June 30: “Sensational Senses”

Discover the amazing senses of Northwoods animals through fun games and activities, learn about some animal sixth senses, and meet some live animals in person!

July 7: “Trees for You and Trees for Me”

How do we use trees in our everyday lives? Learn about the fascinating lives of trees as we explore the forest through fun activities and crafts. Bring a 100% cotton t-shirt for leaf printing OR purchase one for $6.

July 14: “Survival Skills”

Put your skills to the test as we learn how to navigate with a GPS and compass, build fires and shelters, shoot archery, and much more! How long will you survive?!

July 21: “What’s on the Menu?”

It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there! Join us to learn about predators and prey through fun games and hands-on science activities.

July 28: “Wet and Wild”

We’ll have a splashing good time as we visit a bog, discover who’s living in Silver Lake, and play some water games. Participants will travel off-site in TFT vehicles. Close-toed water shoes or boots are required OR rent bog boots for $1 (smaller sizes limited).

Aug 4: “Earth Art”

We put the “ART” in “eARTh”! Join us as we create works of art using nature as our inspiration and get a lesson in nature photography. Bring a 100% cotton t-shirt to tie-dye OR purchase one for $6. Participants are encouraged to bring a simple digital camera.

Aug 11: “Time Travelers”

Ever wonder who called the Northwoods “home” before us? Travel back in time as we explore the historic lives of loggers, fur-traders, and native cultures through fun games, activities, and crafts.
