Memorial Tree Program

Throughout history, people have planted trees to honor deceased or living family members and friends. These living, graceful legacies not only honor the departed, they bring joy to those who live, work, and play under their branches.

A tree is a recognized symbol of nature's strength and endurance. Planting a Memorial Tree is a beautiful way to honor a loved one and an effective way to lessen the sorrow of the loss. The living tree memorial provides family and friends a new sense of continuing life. planting memorial tree

For years to come, a Memorial Tree will enhance the local environment by:

  • moderating the effects of sun, wind, and rain;
  • supplying oxygen and improving air quality;
  • conserving water
  • stabilizing the soil and preventing erosion.

After a one-time contribution of $1000 or more, a native tree of your choice is planted on the Trees For Tomorrow campus. to identify your Memorial Tree, a 4" x 6" plaque is engraved and placed at the base of the tree. This plaque identifies the type of tree, the name of the person honored and includes a short message or date.

Your financial contribution is used to set up a scholarship fund in the name of the person to be remembered. The interest that accrues on this contribution is used to offset the cost of a Trees For Tomorrow workshop for a deserving student and/or teacher.

The Memorial Tree can be planted any day of the planting season. We encourage family and friends to participate in the ceremony.
