A Red-tailed hawk, Apollo was hit by a car in Oakdale Flats in Burnett County. He was taken to a wildlife rehabilitator, Kim Ammann, in Spooner, Wisconsin where he was treated for his injuries. Unfortunately, it was soon discovered that he was completely blind in his left eye which made him unreleaseable. This meant that he would need a permanent home where he would be cared for in order to survive. It was on January 13, 2009 that Apollo became a part of the Trees For Tomorrow education staff.

Orion
Spring of 2009 we were fortunate to find a Great Horned owl who needed a home. Orion was found in the Manitowish Waters area by a couple of snowmobilers. The owl had injuries from what appeared to be a vehicle collision. It was taken to the Northwoods Wildlife Center in Minocqua, Wisconsin for treatment where it was discovered that the right wing was so severely damaged that it would prevent Orion from ever flying efficiently. Therefore, on April 1, 2009 Orion became the second feathered member of our education staff.
